Wishing for Wealth? Here’s How to Manifest Money

Here are the 6 steps on how to manifest money (just like a bona fide wizard!)

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if you thought longingly about eating a cupcake, a rich chocolaty one, with mounds of buttercream frosting. Then later that afternoon, someone hands you one as they bought it but didn’t it wasn’t gluten-free like they thought.

Yes, amazing! And wow, you must be a magician (yes, the Harry Potter kind)! You just thought about it, and the universe delivered it right to your hungry little chocolate-loving soul! Yup, magical!

Did you know that’s really a thing? And it works on more than just cupcakes; it works on the “big things” like love and even money. Many agree that you can manifest money right into your hot little hand!

Nope, I’m not crazy, and I’m not stupid. Do I believe in manifesting money 100%? No, I don’t, but maybe that’s my problem? I’m not all the way there… yet.

So here’s a non-believers guide on breaking down how to manifest money! With a glimmering hope that it all might be a real thing!

It’s no secret that I am a very practical and logical person. I believe that I make my own destiny and that I will fail or succeed under my own steam. Yet, I do believe in luck, and lately, I am beginning to think that there’s something “more” out there.

No, I’m not talking about the presence of God or any religious beliefs; that’s not what this is about. I’m talking about being in tune, so to speak, with forces that aren’t within our direct control.

I’ve always been a firm believer in the power of our mindset and how it’s essential to think positively about something. To put it in a practical way, one of my favorite quotes is…

“If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t, you’re right.”

Henry Ford

Yet, I’ve seen trends in my life that suggest there’s more in play, especially regarding money and how it comes into my life. Our family has been quite lucky lately, with getting reimbursed for things, getting rebates and credits, getting discounts, etc. I don’t want to say that money falls into our hands, but somedays I’m a bit amazed.

Now, please don’t misunderstand me; my husband and I both work incredibly hard. We’re not sitting on our butts eating bonbons and watching TV all day. We are up and working all the time. But the money coming in doesn’t always directly relate to the work we do. It sounds odd, I know, but just go with me through this.

What is manifestation?

Manifesting has a broad and rather wobbly meaning, each slightly different from the next definition. But essentially, manifesting is bringing into your life whatever you are focusing on. You are making your thoughts, wishes, and desires turn into your reality.

There is a massive community of believers around the process and ability. I just haven’t ever given this concept much thought before. I haven’t ever believed in it as a “real thing.” In fact, I did the easy thing, and I dismissed it as a bunch of BS (rude, and narrow-minded I know).

As a type-A personality, I believe that actions deliver results. I still think that but now I am more aware of undercurrents, and something greater working in the background, even if I can’t directly name it.

Now, manifesting isn’t where you think of a cupcake, and one second later, it magically appears. (sad, I know). But it’s thinking of that thing, believing in it, trusting that it will happen, being open and receptive to all things, and then sometime later (who knows how long) it does indeed happen.

Is manifesting money a real thing?

Let’s give the short answer; yes, it’s a real thing. Long answer coming at you. Recently, I’ve been focusing a lot on the power and importance of our money mindset. Especially how it plays into our actions and results, and I’ve delved into different aspects and nuances of what influences it.

There are some main components of what makes our money mindset, but first, let’s do a quick dive into what our money mindset actually is.

Essentially our beliefs and perceptions of money and our ability to earn, manage, and save it are on a sliding scale. At one end, it’s a scarcity mentality, and at the opposite is an abundance mindset; and we all fall somewhere along that scale.

Scarcity belief = there’s never enough money, I’m bad with money, I’ll never learn how to manage it correctly.

Abundance belief = there’s enough money to go around, I can earn more money, I can learn more about it, and I can do well with managing it.

Obviously, we want to have an abundance mindset, (here’s how to boost yours!) Yet, it’s hard for so many of us to really believe it. We can help cultivate this by understanding our money story (which is what we learned early on about money), and how it shaped our money mindset, and by working through any money blocks that we may hold. These are limiting beliefs about money that sabotage us and keep us stuck.

Simplistically, all of these things influence how we…

  • Feel about money
  • Use money
  • Earn money
  • Manage our money

All of these things are intertwined, influencing each other in our subconscious mind, and that makes it confusing, slippery, and you wonder, “Where do I even start?”

That’s fair; I still confuse myself a bit when I try and unravel it and lay it out in a straight line. Maybe that’s my problem; it’s not meant to be organized that way. You need to let go. You need to just believe it. That’s what I am working on right now.

So knowing that you need to be positive about money is all fine and dandy. But where do you start? Well, you read about it, you think about it, you look for undercurrents, and slowly your thoughts open up to a new possibility.

That’s not tactically helpful, I know, so let’s start here…

6 Ways on how to manifest money

Now, I don’t want to say that you will be successful with each and every one of these things (especially as a beginner). Or that using just one method will give you the results that you want. These are all just avenues to take that again work together to create a whole.

It’s like baking; you can’t make a cake with one ingredient. You need many components, and it changes depending on the type of cake you want. You can’t make a cake instantly; it needs to be mixed, baked, cooled, and then frosted before you get the desired result that you eat-patience grasshopper.

Manifesting money by practicing the law of attraction:

This is the first thing you need to nail.  Jack Canfield, a personal development expert, states that “Simply put, the Law of Attraction says that you will attract into your life whatever you focus on. Whatever you give your energy and attention to will come back to you.”

It sounds similar to manifesting, but the Law of Attraction is a Universal Law, just as the Law of Gravity. It works by your thoughts. And manifestation is what you create from those thoughts.

When using this, you need to keep your thoughts in the positive and be specific. Don’t focus on what you don’t want.

For example, if you want to manifest wealth…

  • Wrong: “I don’t want to be poor anymore.”
  • Good: “I want to be rich.”
  • Better: “I want to have $100,000 in my bank account by the end of the year.”

Side note:  Some experts have strict opinions as to using the law of attraction. They say you need to focus on the “what” and not on the “how.” You leave that up to The Universe. So you wouldn’t say, “I want $100,000 in my bank account by the end of the year from doing XYZ.”

This is where I struggle, as I have traditionally thought that I get X from doing the hard work of Z. So, leaving the “how” up to The Universe seems like you’re giving up all personal accountability for achieving it, which doesn’t sit quite right with me. Some have bridged this gap by talking about taking “inspired action” vs. regular action.

Regular action is doing what you’re supposed to do, the traditional way. Like knowing that to make money, you need a 9-5 job, and you’re kind of dreading it. Anything that you dread will not bear delicious fruit. It just won’t.

While inspired action is like having a gut feeling that THIS is what you need to do. Being inspired to do something and knowing that this is the path. That makes more sense to me.

The non-believers take:  Yes, you need to focus on what you want, be positive, and trust that it will happen, but you need to take strategic, inspired action to work towards your goal.

Get good at using positive money affirmations

Here’s where I am ALL IN! I believe that we become what we tell ourselves we are. I think that what we tell ourselves about ourselves has direct power over us! So if I tell myself that “I am bad with money” over and over again, then I will begin to believe it, and I will act accordingly.

It falls along the lines of…

“What we are not changing we are choosing”

David Richo

You need to harness this power and use it to help create the life and reality you want. Don’t worry; you don’t need to start this manifestation process from scratch. I have 250+ powerful money affirmations to help you create the inner monologue to help you become the money magnet you are made to be!

The non-believers take: I’m all in! Totally 100% believe in it, and you should too!

Master your vibrations to attract money

The Law of Vibration is another Universal Law, and it states that everything is always in motion; we reverberate off of each other. We pick up the energy of others and what we surround ourselves in.

Well + Good states, “Furthermore, items of similar vibration are attracted to each other. So, to use this law to manifest your desires, you must match your vibration with that of what you want.” It’s your vibrational frequency so to speak.

So if you want to attract money, it’s not that you surround yourself with money (that’s a tad bit pretentious, I think). You need to surround yourself with what positively impacts your relationship with money, such as positive people, learning material that teaches you about money, social dialogue that encourages you toward your goals.

A great way to easily introduce yourself to this is to actively practice gratitude regularly. Bringing that positivity in naturally raises your frequency, and makes it easier to banish those negative emotions (like a limiting belief or a money block) and manifest abundance with the power of positive energy.

The non-believers take: mastering your vibration was a hard concept for me to grasp at first glance. It sounds too woo-woo. BUT, when you phrase it differently, say as “You are the average of the five people you surround yourself with.” That makes more sense to me, and that is something I can get behind.

Using visualization to manifest money

There are lots of attraction techniques, but this is one of my favorites. If you want to have a lot of money, you need to see yourself with it. Like, REALLY see yourself having a lot of money. Whatever that looks like to you.

What does it look like when you’ve reached your financial goal? Are you in a fancy house? Is it one story or a two story? Is it white with shutters or grey with reclaimed wood? Are you by yourself or with your family? What are you wearing? And on and on.

The point being, you can’t reach your goal of financial abundance when you only have a vague idea of what that is. Once you see yourself “there,” you become more invested in it, and you tap into different parts of your brain, like your subconscious mind.

Once you know what that vision is, mbgmindfullness states, “Once you’ve gotten clear on the images that excite you and represent your goals, it’s important to visualize them often in your mind’s eye, to continuously trigger the power of your subconscious.”

If you’re having a hard time coming up with mental images, make a vision board of your dream life. Yes, experts hate vision boards, as they are considered surface level & fluffy. But when combined with these other manifestation techniques, it can be powerful.

To do it, go online, and find & save images that represent what your goal looks like to you. A great place to do this is to make a secret Pinterest board just for this purpose, then whenever you see an image that resonates with you, just save it to your board!

So if being “rich” means beach vacations look for those images, or maybe it means having a cute cottage or a room full of your favorite books. Or a gourmet kitchen where you can cook anything with ease!

The non-believers take:  I have always had an active imagination, so this comes naturally to me. And it has helped me get clear on what it is that I want.

Manifesting money through scripting

Scripting is similar to visualization, yet it’s in the format of the written word, don’t worry it’s not a gratitude journal, (but that’s still a good idea), but more of a money journal practice. Scripting is when you are writing out in detail what you desire, like telling a story, with lots of detail and emotion. There’s a twist though, as you write your story as if it has already happened, and you are living it right now.

Keys to scripting:

  • Use present tense
  • Write in first-person language.
  • Write positive thoughts & show gratitude
  • Be as detailed and descriptive as possible.
  • Use emotional and feeling words & phrases.
  • Make it a routine – for short sessions (i.e., morning journaling and gratitude practice)

Scripting is powerful, as it uses different mental muscles. When you write something, you are engraining it on a deeper level in your brain (consciously and subconsciously).  Forbes reports that “Handwriting increases neural activity in certain sections of the brain, similar to meditation” It stimulates creativity and reinforces the feel-good receptors. It creates neural pathways to what you’re writing and your subconscious.

The non-believers take:  Since I believe in visualization, it follows suit that I believe in this. I understand the concept, but I haven’t ever utilized this technique, but I’d be willing to give it a try!

Manifesting money meditation

I never knew that this was a thing before, so I am new to this technique for manifesting money. Honestly, I’m a bit skeptical on this one.

Now, please don’t mistake me, I believe in the power of meditation (I’m not very successful at it), yet the specific idea of manifesting money through meditation seems scammy to me. In looking it up online, there are a lot of “providers” that want you to buy their products, and they don’t give off a reputable vibe.

Am I judgy? I might be.  I just don’t think you can guarantee money manifestation. Yes you can guide people on attraction techniques such as using positive affirmations but the road to prosperity cannot be short-cutted by simply buying a money spell. Rant over.

Mediation helps work on your subconscious brain (like other methods mentioned here). Meditation enables you to relax, lower stress, and many other benefits. When you focus your meditation practice around a specific thing, like money, it helps you open up your brain to a new way of thinking, to instill new and more positive beliefs and attitudes into your brain about money, by drowning out your negative thoughts.

As I said, I’m not very good at meditating. I get distracted by my overactive brain very easily. But who better to get us good at the basics than Deepak Chopra, a well-respected figure in alternative medicine. (Hey, if Oprah loves him, then I am more than willing to give his teachings a shot).

Here, he gives us the basics of meditating, which will provide you with an idea on if meditation is for you. If it is, then you can move onto more videos (warning – there are a lot on YouTube, and none of them seem quite genuine. But maybe you’ll have better luck finding one).

The non-believers take:  I don’t know that I am well-versed enough to give an educated final opinion; if meditation is something you like, then great! This can be a great technique on your toolbox that works alongside the others.

Can you be too focused on manifesting money?

Can you be too focused of building wealth? Absolutely! There’s no denying that greed will destroy you and leave you emoty.

“When people see money as energy and they see that there are karmic effects to holding onto energy and they also see that those karmic effects backfire, then they start to see that part of the responsibility of having energy is learning how to pass it through, learning how to trust, and to keep giving it away. People, especially in the business world, take money too seriously.”

Ram Dass

It seems that a good dose of perspective is recommended when manifesting money: perspective and respect. That sounds reasonable and healthy to me.

At the end of the day

So the big question is…

Q: Can you manifest money?

A: Sort of.

I believe that the more positive attention you bring to something, the more action you will bring to it, so with manifesting, you’re kicking off a cycle, and you will naturally take inspired action. You’re creating a mental pathway to achieving what you want, which is a healthier relationship with more money. And that is something I can get behind for everyone!

  1. Like you, I’m not very successful at meditation either, but I try. I agree about the Universe’s laws. They exist and work, and the problem is we need to learn how to maneuver them. Abundance is true, too. I need to read this article every morning, and perhaps my mind will change faster:)

  2. This is so interesting. You’re absolutely right about being positive though. It definitely helps to spur you on. Thanks for this. Great post.
