I like SayMore, as it’s just as it appears, with no crazy gimmicks or flashy distractions; it’s just straight-up answering surveys and getting points that you can redeem for gift cards.

I am one of their survey panelists, and this is by far the most “official” survey company I’ve worked with. When you do the surveys, plan on doing them on your desktop/laptop/tablet (just not on your phone), as there’s a lot to see and do. These surveys usually take about 10 – 15 minutes to complete.

The American Consumer Opinion program is a bit different than others. As a panel member, you typically participate in several surveys yearly. The average survey will take 10 minutes or so to complete, and the questions are usually easy to answer.

Panel members can expect to receive a “screener” (a short survey) every month or so. You’ll be paid 5-50 points for your screener survey (or you can use them as entries into their monthly gift card drawings).

Several times a year, you’ll also receive short surveys about your home’s usage of certain products and services. Please be sure to answer these surveys because this helps select households for follow-up surveys.

Points are collected in your account until you are ready to redeem them for cash (US or Canadian), Hyperwallet funds, or PayPal funds, or for an entry into sweepstakes (US), or you can donate your earnings to a charity.

14. Crowdology

Crowdology pays cash (via PayPal) or gift cards for your participation in their short online surveys. Surveys typically take from 2-15 minutes to complete, and you can get paid up to $10 for the longer surveys. Shorter surveys usually pay $.50 to $2.50, which is still a great payout!

Your survey responses (which are all fully anonymous) help brands and companies to improve their products and services and sometimes feature in articles that appear in newspapers and magazines.

17. GG2U

GG2U is a survey site just for gamers! You can earn rewards by playing games, answering survey questions, signing up on sites, and installing apps. Product Report Card is a nice combination site as you can get paid for taking surveys, participating in focus groups, AND getting paid for product reviews!

They also offer a free $5 reward just for signing up and completing their welcome survey. So basically a guaranteed payout!

Here’s a general earnings summary…

• surveys – 10 minutes = $1
• focus groups – 30 minutes = $50
• product review – 25 minutes = $25 + free product

For the product reviews, the most common products members are asked to test are VR games, wearable technology, hygienic products, FOOD, drinks, and pet supplies. You can be paid to do a taste test right at home!

For example, an in-home product test will work something like this…

Company A wants to know how mothers between the ages of 30 and 39 rate a new flavor of baby food. Company A creates a taste test that they have packaged and ready to mail to moms. But how do they find the moms? That’s where SurveyClub comes in.

SurveyClub combs through its membership pool, looking for members who are women between the ages of 30 and 39 with children ages six months to 12 months. It then connects those members with Company A. When a SurveyClub member completes the study, Company A pays SurveyClub, and SurveyClub pays its member. Or sometimes Company A will pay you directly!

In addition, you can also save money by using their Cash Back deals that are only available to members (don’t worry, membership is free).

Survey Club pays out via Amazon gift cards. But don’t worry, you can then go to Amazon and buy digital gift cards from retailers of your choice; there are a ton of options!

27. SurveyDownline

Survey Downline isn’t the fanciest platform around, but don’t let that discourage you; they pay very well. “We pay our members up to 45% of the money we earn from the surveys they complete – a true partnership! These payouts are between $1 and $5 per survey (very nice compared to other sites!)

They also offer a great referral program, where when people that you’ve referred take a survey, you get 10% of the payout!

Because of their great payouts, the surveys can fill up quickly, so don’t delay when you get a notification that one is available to you!

Payouts are made straight to PayPal on the 1st & 16th of every month. You can use your earnings and buy any gift card you want!

30. YouGov

With YouGov, you’ll be invited to answer questions on various topics by email or in the YouGov app. You’ll earn points every time you answer a survey. The longer the survey, the more points you’ll earn.

Most surveys from YouGov should only take the average person five to seven minutes. They typically contain 20-30 short questions. If you do come across a longer survey, don’t worry– they shouldn’t stretch beyond 20 minutes.

Rewards include cash (via direct deposit to your bank account) and gift cards. Gift cards include brands such as Amazon, Best Buy, Target gift cards, and Gamestop, to name a few.

What to look for in a gift cards for survey site

When you sign up for a survey site, you’ll be asked to provide some personal information. Be sure to read the privacy terms before you sign up, so you know how your personal information will be used. Some places sell their email list, and some places don’t.

6. Customer service

If you have any problems with your account or rewards, you’ll want to be able to contact customer service. Look for survey sites that have a good reputation for customer service.

How to trade gift cards

Sometimes you’ll only have gift card options that aren’t so hot. Back in the day, you could go to a Coinstar kiosk and trade it in, but not anymore. Don’t worry; you can always sell or trade your gift card online.

Sell gift card on CardCash

CardCash – offers discounted gift cards from over 1,300 brands. People sell their unwanted gift cards to them (get paid by PayPal, ACH, or check). And then people buy them at a discounted price. Sometimes they even offer site-wide discounts on cards. I.e., 20% off specific categories.

You can sell your unwanted gift cards and trade gift cards in for something you’ll actually use. It took me literally 2 minutes to turn an Urban Outfitters gift card (that I’ve had in a drawer for years) into Target gift cards!

Now, you can sell your gift card or trade it, but you do get slightly more value when you trade it (vs. selling it for cash). It’s was only maybe $1.50 more for a trade, so not a huge difference.

When I did it, I inputted my gift card info into the online form; I told them what I wanted to trade it for. They validated my gift card balance and then emailed me a Target Gift Card in a matter of 30 minutes (if that, it was probably more like 15 minutes).

Sell gift cards online at EJ Gift Cards

EJ Gift Cards is another online buy/sell site for unwanted gift cards. It’s similar to others sites, but let’s go through the process.

1. Enter your gift card brand name and face value, and submit
2. They give you back a buy value; you can decline or accept.
3. If you accept, they send your money via PayPal.

When I messed around with different retailers and card values, they only offered slightly more than 50% to 60% of the face value, which isn’t as good as CardCash. But it’s still a viable option.

Sell it on Raise

Raise is an online marketplace for selling and buying gift cards. And yes, you can sell your Visa gift card here.

To do so, just create an account and list your card. You’ll be prompted with a suggested selling price (lower than face value), and then it will tell you how much you’ll get for the card at that selling price. Raise does take15% of the sale as a fee.

So, for example, you could have a $30 Visa card, list it for $29, and then Raise will say, “you’ll get $24.65 from this sale” once it has sold on the marketplace.

Set the price, submit it for review (it takes 1-2 days), and wait for someone to buy it.

Once someone buys it, you can receive your funds either by check, PayPal, or ACH direct deposit within 3-5 days from when you request a payout.

Tips to earn the most money answering surveys

With any side hustle, you need to know the inside scoop. Otherwise, you’re going to be wasting a lot of time for very little money.

Here are some tips from the experts on how to make the most of a paid survey site…

Sign up for your top 5 survey sites

This way, you’ll have a better chance of qualifying for more surveys and earning more money. After about ten days, you’ll know which sites you like and which you don’t.

For the ones you want to drop, earn just enough to get the lowest payout option, and then close your account.

Now you can try 2-3 new sites and repeat the process. Ideally, in the end, you’ll have 5-7 survey sites that you really like and use regularly.

Be honest when you answer questions
